Firstly, or I'll never live this down, =Blondeyetti and I are engaged to be married! She's smashing, and thankfully she tolerates me, so I guess that's a pairing ^^.
Secondly, let me apologise most humbly to anyone who sent me a message and hasn't had a reply. I've not done anything arty in a year, by my reckoning, but it might be less, and to be honest the priorities have been...
1)Teach
2)Eat
3)Sleep
...for about three months now, when suddenly I got to the end of my first term teaching, and they became...
1)Sleep
2)Eat
3)Teach
..which is about right. Today is Sunday 4th January; I go back to work tomorrow, for a teacher-training day, or Inset day. I've planned most of what I'm going to do this half term, which is always a bonus, and I'm teaching art for the first time, so that should be an adventure.
This also means that when I've had free time, dA hasn't been on the list of things to do, which is bad of me. I resolve, this year, to come on here more! Whether I post artwork or not.
I haven't really made New Year resolutions. I've got a vague idea that I'd like to:
Lose weight
Be fitter
Advance in karate so that I'm just short of my brown belt or, even better, actually a brown belt
Learn more written Japanese, which is actually one I have a chance of doing, as it's actually quite calming to learn a few katakana before bed each night
Come on dA more and, if possible, post more art
Get through my first year of teaching.
None of those are impossible. Little things will help, like being able to drink Diet Coke for the first time (seems I've grown out of my aspartame allergy) will help me lose weight, because of all that sugar suddenly disappearing from my diet. But, sadly, the priority must remain the teaching. Sadly? Nay! I enjoy my job. But sat here, typing this, on Sunday night, knowing that I have to leave my home to drive for over an hour to my rented room in Milton Keynes, it kind of bites. It's the same every week though, so who am I to complain?
Actual news: We came second in the 2008 Manga Jiman competition, run by the Japanese Embassy in London. Not sure if I already posted it, but =Blondeyetti will have done. It's awesome; we get our work displayed, and people come and look at it and go 'ooh' and 'aah' and we get given copious amounts of wine on the night.
Until I next update this, take care!
